Electrical Installations Condition Report (EICR)
An EICR is a crucial safety check that must be completed in any home or rental property. It’s for your own safety. In a nut shell, it’s a simple check of your electrical systems, almost like them having an MOT… it has to be done!
Domestic EICR
Electrical fixtures that have been around for many years can be a main cause of a house fire. That’s why conducting a domestic Electrical Installations Condition Report will give you that extra peace of mind that the appliances and electrical systems in your home are safe and secure.
Domestic EICR reports should be carried our every ten years or when there is a change in the tenancy and should be conducted by the landlord. As a landlord, you have a responsibility and duty of care for your tenants so keeping on top of the EICR is important.
For Tenants
– By law your landlord must ensure all the electrical installations in your home are safe For the full period of your tenancy
– For any new tenants before you move into the property the electrical checks should already have been carried out
– If you are an existing tenant, the checks must have been completed by the 1st of April 2021
– For all tenants, you must be provided with a copy of the Electrical Installations Conditions Report as this will confirm your property is safe to live in
